The leading lines all say the focal point is the corner..but the contrast of the doorway (plus the support pole) shift your focus making you actually look around. The flower pots in the foreground also demand attention at the bottom.

This shot really forces your eye to move around and take it all in....very clever.

Well, look who's back! :p

Nice HDR, Brandon. Good tone rendering, colour, and local/global contrast -- all the qualities that separate poor HDR from good HDR (in my opinion). And of course, the composition and subject matter are good as well.

Welcome back brother! ;)

This is one of the better HDRs posted on gfx for a while...
Has it anything to do with your long absence? :p

What took you so long... ;)

The centered pole distracts a bit imo.

The floor and the outside plants add a surreal look to this. Welcome back Brandon.

Technically perfect--or as close to perfect as I can tell, not being a photographer--and the quality of light is beautifully captured. The emptiness of the nursery compared to the overgrowth outside provides the twist, defying our expectations. It's interesting to see a place usually filled with growth and life and vibrant things looking barren and kind of industrial. And I like how the pole makes what would ordinarily be a straightforward 2-pt perspective shot a bit different, by cutting us off before our eye reaches the end of its natural trajectory. My only complaint is that you don't post enough. :p

seems 2 very different worlds together the Greens outside & barren inside...
Agree with Team member, GFXartist sponsor Wysiwyg , but is the placement of the pole intentional ?
Awesome use of HDR.. As a wise man told me (read A-H ;) ).. a filter should be used in a way that it shouldn't be noticeable... Is it normal 3 exposures Or is it more ??
The depth, toning & brilliant composition make it a shot to remember...
Top Marks !!!

as usual you show that HDR pictures can be far more than an artificial way to enhance a picture , like overused photoshop filters :)
well done:)

Thanks for the comments and feedback everyone. I've added an unaltered shot (the normally exposed one), straight off the camera, for anyone who's interested.

@ Team member, GFXartist sponsor Wysiwyg: Thanks very much. I always try to take a few minutes looking around the frame before hitting the shutter to make sure everything is framed as I'd like it. I very rarely do software cropping. Saves time in the long run :)

@ Elite trevorm: Thanks! I'm not sure how active I'll be, but I figured I'd stop in and see what's going on :)

@ Elite moserArtist: Thanks. I've been busy with work and social whatnots. If my HDR skills have improved it must be a fluke, since I haven't practiced them terribly much.

@  chickenfingers: Thank you ever so much for your lovely analysis. You always seem to put a good deal of thought into your comments, which is always appreciated. I will attempt to post work a bit more often :)

@ Elite dakoo: Thank you. It is composed of 3 exposures, as usual (although I've messed around with 4 and 5, but they really don't seem to make a tremendous difference, at least for what I'm doing). As I said in my reply to Wysi, I always look around the entire frame before taking a shot, so yes, the pole would be more or less intentional. Although when dealing with architecture one can obviously only do so much to reposition things :p

lovely HDR, must try that technique sometime cuz my shots are always overexposed :( a bit of cloning stamp would remove the pole or ya cud paste a lady dancing on it, that might detract from the intended atmosphere though. Still a lovely shot, excellent work :)

Only the right side would also make a great artwork. (I think even better than this composition...)
Still a great HDRI! Welcome back!

@ Elite Lenn0: Thanks for the suggestion. However, I'd have to disagree that cropping-out the left-side would improve the composition. I've tried it, and to me it appears unbalanced as all the leading-lines lead the eye off the edge of the photograph. You're correct in that the left-side of the image is relatively unremarkable, but I believe it provides the balance that's needed. Thanks for the critique :)
